Fried Chicken
EditCrispy Southern-style fried chicken with a buttermilk marinade.

Ingredients
- 1 kilogram Chicken pieces
- 500 millilitre Buttermilk
- 2 cup All-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon Paprika
- 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
- 0.5 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
- 2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black pepper
- 1 litre Vegetable oil
Steps
- Marinate chicken pieces in buttermilk with salt for at least 4 hours, ideally overnight in the fridge.(240 min)
- Mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.(3 min)
- Remove chicken from buttermilk and dredge each piece thoroughly in the seasoned flour.(10 min)
- Heat oil in a deep pot or Dutch oven to 170°C (340°F).(10 min)
- Fry chicken in batches, turning occasionally, until deep golden brown and cooked through (internal temp 74°C).(15 min)
- Drain on a wire rack and rest for 5 minutes before serving.(5 min)
